Sabse Technologies Bought Mobivox VOIP Service

Sabse Technologies is on the roll, After acquiring Jaxtr, Sabse now bought Mobivox. What does that mean to you as a VOIP consumer? Lets find out.

Sabse Technologies owned by Sabir Bhatia first hit news with their free conference calls service called SabseBolo. SabseBolo primarily offers free conference calls to Indian users. However Its evident that Sabse doesn't want to stop at providing conference calls or rather expand their conference calls services other parts of the world. Especially entering US and Europe market for conference call services will be the key focus for SabseBolo.

Considering these points, Acquiring Jaxtr was mainly a move to acquire existing Jaxtr infrastructure around the access numbers service they provide and now mobivox would also mean expanding the infrastructure, coz even Mobivox offers a very similar local number service.

Sabse might also try to merge Jaxtr and Mobivox together to create one local access number VOIP Provider brand. However, its very unlikely cause Jaxtr and Mobivox are already established VOIP services and they are better that way.

Mobivox has however lost lot of ground after they stopped offering free international calls service and started flat rate 2.1 cents calls to 40 countries. Many free calls users moved to other services in the mean time. However, that also means that whoever stuck around with Mobivox are most likely loyal paid users which is the key for Sabse Technologies.

Lets hope that SabseBolo can again provide free international calls via Mobivox and inegrate the access numbers for Jaxtr and Mobivox to cover more countries/cities. That would benefit all existing users and new users on both theseVOIP services.

Verizon Wireless Hub VOIP Phone Services closed down

Verizon Wireless Hub VOIP Phone Service never took off as a residential phone service however now seems it really couldn't hold on for long in this competitive VOIP Phone services market.

Verizon Wireless has officially announced that they are closing down the sales of Verizon Wireless Hub VOIP Phone Service effective immediately. They already stopped selling the Verizon Hub product via retail outlets and now they stopped selling via online service.

We did a Verizon Hub Review when it was first launched and it was a clear "NO we don't want a Verizon Hub" verdict. The Price point for Verizon Hub was way out at $34.95 per month and you also need to be a verizon wireless Cell phone user with a contract. Way too much to ask for and to compete with VOIP Phone Services like Ooma or PhonePower which offers low starting prices.

Verizon has totally failed to sell Verizon Hub product via online platform or retail, which forced them to close down the Verizon Hub product.

Now I am wondering what happens to the existing Verizon Hub users? Is anyone using Verizon Hub able to use the service anymore? Please comment.

Ooma Telo HD Voice VOIP Service Review

If you loved Ooma Hub, you sure will like to try Telo. Telo is the new VOIP Service/Gadget by Ooma.

Ooma although heavily criticized by Media in USA including me in the past, have managed to stay on for long enough that most of us thought. Looks like, the "Ashton Kutcher" charisma really worked :-)

At the same time, we have to agree that Ooma Hub beats every single VOIP Provider hands down when it comes to looks and price. Ooma Hub would look damn sexy in your apartment and should get enough eyeballs. The pricing of Ooma has been excellent right from day 1 and now since retailers like amazon selling Ooma directly to consumers, we often get even lower price. Right now, you can grab ooma Hub at amazon for only $227.

Now Lets find out about the all new Ooma Telo and Why Ooma Telo is better than Ooma Hub.

Ooma Telo is killer in looks, more sleek than Ooma Hub and gives a bunch of more VOIP features you would love to have in 2010. Yes, am talking about the HD Voice. We are already living a high definition life then why not a HD VOIP service?

The Ooma Telo would connect to your high-speed Internet and existing home phones, allowing you to enjoy free home phone service, free US calls, and exceptionally low international rates.

Ooma Telo Features:

1) Free Unlimited US Calls to any US Landline/Mobile
2) Caller Id, Voicemail
3) Compatible with existing Cordless or Dect Phone in your home
4) You can keep your phone number for $39.99 one time porting fee or choose a new phone number for FREE.
5) Takes 15 minutes to setup. Plug and Play Device.
6) 911 Service: 911 operators would get your registered home address.
7) During Power Outages, Ooma will automatically switch your back to your traditional landline if you have any.
8) Call anyone using Ooma for FREE.
9) Telo is HD voice Ready.

Now the pricing, Ooma literally make you think twice. You get Ooma Telo device and its service for only $249 when you buy at Amazon. This is a one time fee and you never to have pay again ever again. Just call your VOIP provider and tell them shut your service off coz now you are gonna save loads of money.

If i were you, i would settle for Ooma Telo anyday just to have that gadget in my home and make free USA calls. Most importantly having to deal with overbilled monthly bills. Trust me average american spends atleast 30% of his time every weekends settling his bills and if you are over billed, you know what you are gonna get through.

Do Let us know how you find Ooma Telo VOIP Service and write a ooma telo review.

Apple approved Toktumi Mobile VOIP App and kept Google Voice at bay

In a extremely surprising development, Apple has approved a Google Voice alternative Toktumi's Mobile VOIP Line2 app and its now available for download in apple store.

One would wonder, Why Google Voice App wasn't approved? The faceoff between Apple, AT&T and Google voice is still on and will continue for some time before FCC gives a clear decision most likely in the favour of google Voice.

Google can now however use this toktumi approval for their benefit and make a case to FCC. Toktumi's Line2 app works very similar to Google Voice by letting you use one virtual number to forward to your real phone numbers. However its not a free VOIP service and costs $15, but it supports business VOIP features like phone trees etc.

Since Toktumi is a paid service, Apple probably believes it won't directly impact At&T business and it doesn't support SMS either which makes it a less preferable choice. At the same time, they might be interested in pushing toktumi ahead of Google Voice App to get as many users under this app and make it difficult for google voice to gain these customers.

Whatever be the case, the Mobile VOIP Application and the entire VOIP market in USA would face huge turmoil in 2009-2010. Lets hope we see some really good innovations and value addition to VOIP service

Telcan.com Telcan Unlimited India Calling VOIP Provider Review

After Vonage introduced the Vonage World Plan which included India Unlimited Calls, It seems lot of "run of the mill" VOIP Providers trying to duplicate Vonage World Plan. Before you buy Telcan India Unlimited Plan, You must read our Telcan.com Review.

As you already know, Puting your hard earned money into a VOIP Phone services isn't a cakewalk anymore with new VOIP Providers launching every week and vanish the next month. How would you choose your VOIP Provider? Thankfully, you are reading VOIP Guide and we can help you choose the right VOIP Provider for your needs.

Today we are looking at Telcan.com. Telcan claims to offers unlimited calls to India plan for a flat monthly fee of $29.99.

Lets do a Telcan Review.

1) Telcan charges you $29.99 as start-up One time Fee.
2) Monthly fee of #34 ($29.99 + $4 tax) as long as you continue.
3) Telcan offers their VOIP service through local access numbers.
4) There is no contract between you and telcan. You may cancel the service. They claim there are no cancellation fees.
5) With telcan unlimited india plan, you can dial any number in India including landline and Mobile.
6) Telcan has a phone and email support, which is good.

Now, Lets see why Telcan probably isn't suitable for you.

1) No SIP service or Support.
2) Available only via Access numbers
3) You need to register your number from where you can make calls telcan access number.
4) You can't change your authorized number during the month. Only 1 change per month.

I have also reviewed a Telcan.com I received a mail from from this Telcan.com informing me about their new Unlimited Indian Calling feature. This works exactly like a calling card hence no contract issues.

But the flip side is,

  • Calls have to originate from a pre designated phone number. Hence you cannot share your plan with your friends or Family.
  • It will cost you about $34 a month. Setting aside the Betamax if we compare this with a regular calling card which costs about 1.2 cents per minute it will translate to abt 48 Hrs a month ( hope my calculation is right ). I just checked my usage per month and it does not exceed 25hrs and the total talktime of my room mate and friends is about 25hrs. Looks like this plan will be great if we have a free local calling plan ( any time unlimited , unlike unlimited after 9:00 PM ) from Vonage or other similar plan and sharing with my room mates with Time division Multiplexing in place :) but remember there is an additional cost associated with Localcalling plan.
  • Telcan does not offer a local number for all states in US and Canada.

I believe points are to be noted by people who do not exceed the calling limit each month and can save money on these unlimited india calling plans.

Secondly, I wanted to add that those who wish to call Telcan access numbers can make use of Google Voice for calling outside your state to save money :-)

Please let us know your Telcan Review , Feedback and comments.
